The First Video Opera About Human Cloning.

On 28th & 29th July at RADA academy, the premier of ‘Mannequin’ was performed by Héloïse Werner and De Montage Art collective.

I was asked by Maria Vatenina, the composer of ‘Mannequin’ , as a costume designer of De Montage Art collective. I did character building and costume styling for poster, filming for the animation, collaborated with the animation artist Izabella Barszcz.

I heard this project from Vatenina a year ago - it was unforgettable day for me. ‘This is the story of human clone, forced to follow deceased super star Anna’, Vatenina said. 

‘to find an Identity’    ‘to be individual’

Those key words are completely similar to my artistic theme, and she gave me some references such as ‘Persona’ by Ingmar Bergman - one of the master piece of philosophical drama. I dived into her artistic vision head first, totally felt in love in this opera piece. It has been very tight production for the premier, but I really dedicated to make it perfectly.

-Anna is a perfect name-

To understand the character of Anna, was most important part for us.We’ve never seen such a super star since we create it. To making charismatic aura by styling was extremely exciting moment, even though she only appeared in the animation just 5 seconds.  After I set up for Héloïse Werner as Anna on  filming day, finally we can recognize what Anna looks like actually. That was only moment to see Anna, Héloïse acted passionately in front of the camera.
